  • camtasia or simliar program?

Hi I am looking for a free, easy to use way to capture screen images.

Basically, I am looking for something a bit better than the "alt+print screen" method to help teach a friend some very basic Photoshop crap...(i.e. this is how to show the "tools" in the work window)

-it doesn't have to capture as a movie, can be individual images
-it doesn't have to have audio

    Thank in advance...

The Jing thing looks cool. Another option is Skitch which is particularly good if you are storing any of this stuff in Evernote. I now keep all of my software notes in Evernote and it makes it very easy to search and find notes on render settings, hotkeys, etc.

You can also use the free Expression Encoder from Microsoft. With SP2 they also removed the 10min recording limitation
            Kind Regards,

Camstudio is like an open source version of camtasia - the big thing though is the screen codec that camtasia gives you for tiny file sizes.

Wow, some cool ideas floated up here! Thank everyone for responses, it was really helpful.
So far Jing seems pretty great. It does not have any noticeable performance hit, either...although I still want to try out the rest listed
