Good news IMO...I tried out the beta awhile back and was overall impressed, but it was still very crude, like nothing would work unless at zero Z axis...looking forward to trying it again.

The features are exactly the same as in the alpha/beta except you have low poly models now.

Weren't they low poly before? They seemed to be anyway, like the "wooden" dummy...

Has some real potential. I can't imagine it should be that hard work, relatively speaking, to implement custom models. Looks like it could be really useful to get some middle>long distance filler population going. Could use custom high-res assets for close-ups and quickly fill the rest of the spaces in the distance using this. It would also be very useful for aerials... look forward to trying it out.

I got really excited then and through marc lorenz had partenered up and got populate into 2014 and out of beta. Everyone already knew this was going to happen, we've been using it for the last 2 years.

The workflow seems to be a lot faster then going through import/export with AXYZ Anima.
Would be awesome if they would convert their models to Populate.
They look a lot better, and even work at medium distance shots with some motion blur.
              Reflect, repent and reboot.
              Order shall return.

I wonder if they would want to considering that their Anima package would be somewhat redundant if Populate continues to improve. I think AD will need a solution to allow us to bring high-res characters into Populate.

So you need to manually create ramps if your terrain has height variation?

in anima i think there is still a lot more flexibility of actions to combine. walk-stand, walk,sit,walk...inclusive walking stairs thats is still not possible in populate...both (also the hires AD) are only for background or middleground...
only thing that is really bad in anima is the penguin walking of the people. the arms are much too wide away from the body. that looks so bad, it destroys everything.it seems diego canĀ“t fix this.the people walk like penguins.

how do you implement 3d people in the foreground?
