  • strange things going on with my max 2013, can't drag and drop textures and...

Suddenly I can;t drag and drop textures and max doesn't see mapped drives.

    Did anyone have such problems?

I don't know what happened but I'm sure when I was choosing textures form my mapped drive I could see the mapped drive in "select bitmap image file" window. Same goes for saving renders , no sign of mapped drives. Now somehow it's gone. I have to go to network and choose destination from there. What I have to do to see my mapped drives ? I have windows 8. I had to make extra network location to have access to that drive but still it's workaround. Why 3dsmax can't see mapped drives?

In system it's visible but in 3dsmax window it isn't

Might be worth throwing out your ui folder and rebuilding it - I had a tonne of issues with texture gamma and it turned out to be a corrupt ui.

I figured it out... I was running max as administrator... then you can't drop textures and mapped drives are invisible ... very strange!

Quite counter intuitive alright - you'd think you'd have more access as administrator!

Hah - I found this out just last week too. We were sending some things to a farm and you have to run rebus manager as an administrator for it to work properly - so I got logged in as admin, then couldn't see the network drives to open my scenes

so is this a windows 8 issue?

                No - we're on 7. It's a UAC issue.

I run my account as admin and UAC is off, no problem.

and still have this problem when running 3dsmax as admin.

You have it set to never tell you when it does something - it's not actually switched off there.
