  • Solidrocks and XREF materials

In trying to streamline, I am hoping to try out Solidrocks - unfortunately, I can't install the demo at the moment as it doesn't work with the latest version of Vray (any ideas how long this might take?)

Many of our projects use XREF materials from central max files. This helps us keep materials up to date across many scenes from the same development.

Does anyone know if Solidrocks will optimise these materials, or will the materials need to actually be in the scene in order to be optimised?
    Kind Regards,

How does it do that? Will it change the material settings in the MAX file where the materials are XREF'd from, or will it create local copies of the materials and change those?

I don't think SR does it..... I work with Xref as well and sometimes I had to bond them in one file.
If I remember well the optimization is an independent process. It's not during the render time so you could go to your Xref and using the same SR setting to optimize your xrefs.

I'm very sure about it....when you optimize a scene SR tells you how many materials and lights were optimized..... Since almost 100% of my main files only have cameras and lights, I got only the light messages.
