The Perspective Match and Pan and Zoom tools give me hope that they've really finally fixed the viewport background plate issues that plagued 2013. It's been SUCH a pain since leaving 2012.... I really hope they've sorted it out.

Does anyone else think the perspective match looks a lot like this script? I wonder if it is done by the same person.

A lot of the features look interesting but it all depends how they have been implemented.

I don't know why AD get criticism for implementing existing tools and techniques in their software. If anything we should get annoyed with them if they don't. Yes in an ideal world AD would be hugely creative and innovative with every release but that's just not the case, so I'm glad they're catching up with the competition in certain areas and absorbing those tools. Max has always been a shell with thousands of plugins and scripts providing the actual usable tools, and that's never going to change. And I'm ok with that, personally.
I just have all my fingers and toes crossed that they've addressed some of the truly major show-stopping bugs and quirky behaviours from 2013, because frankly that release is their worst in many years in that respect and it's really pushed my efficiency down noticeably as a result in certain areas.

AD isn't the only software that follows this philosophy. I have MANY pieces of software that require "maintenance" in order just to get the product updates! Whether we like it or not, this is going to be the new norm. I just had to get a couple pieces back onto maintenance and boy did that leave a mark! O_o
