  • Max 2014 sys requirements - no more xp and vista

    Hi all

Just a heads up, according to their site, the minimum OS spec is now win7 and it will also work on win8. Seems xp and vista isnt supported anymore.
Also no more 32 bit, only 64 bit
    Kind Regards,
    Morne

Looks like we are staying on 2013 for a good while yet then. Most of our render servers are xp64 :'/

microsoft are finishing support for xp next year anyway so no more updates / security patches > http://support.microsoft.com/ph/1173/en-gb

from the looks of it, there aren't many new features being added into the next max version (again...)
we've stopped our subscription and will be sticking with 2012 for the foreseeable future.

Hi, windows xp64 may not be officially support, but it does work ok, all our old dell render nodes are on xp64, and didn't have any problems.

        Best regards,

Pretty sad if there wasn't a fallback for older OS's - at least for render nodes which do not occupy the viewport anyway.

I'm surprised they're dropping support for Vista (purely because it's not that old, it is however an awful OS) but not surprised they're dropping XP64.

I realise it's going to be a big expense for those running large render farms..etc. but I think it's pretty reasonable that a current release won't officially have support for an 8 year old platform that you can no longer purchase.
