A few months ago, I contacted Splutterfish and got a fully functional demo (30 days, no limitations). I got access to the tutorials and followed them. Those tutorials showed only a direction for photon mapping. But there were no good examples with clean results.
Photon mapping in Brazil is certainly not easy. I also found it very hard to get rid of the noise in Brazil lights, especially when they are large.
If you look at Brazil gallery there are not much interior renderings, and I think that has to do with the fact that it is so hard to get clean results.
You cannot render fast with Brazil not using photon mapping if you are after more than one bounce. For me this was the main reason I chose for VRay, together with a known good support and friendly forum.

                    black copy = pirated version

supposedly they are very upset because studios will be the most to profit from it. they are worried that they will sell 1 license to a studio who will then use 12 other copies of the pirated version of brazil to do work. And since the studio owns 1 legit license, they can't really charge them with piracy since the studio could argue they did the work on that machine only.

The fishes are in a tough pickle, but that's what they get when they sell such expensive software. In my honest opinion, no plugin should cost as much as the program that uses it.
                    5 years and counting.

I agree with you on the cost....$1200 for a plug..even a good one such as brazil is too much...even if the price is aimed to studios.....after all is still a render and that's it.....even if it's good.

as for the pirated copies.....that's pretty sad.....and bad for the fishes...especially with all the work Scott and Steve have put into it.
                      that's bad.
