  • Hair Creation Suggestions?

I'm looking for a realistic way to create highly realistic hair without too much fiddling. Don't have money for Shagfur (nor have I had the pleasure of using it.) But I do have Poser. Do you guys/gals have any great suggestions or links to accomplish this without any heavy render times??? i'm kinda tired of looking at bald poser characters...

poser is a nice way of getting realistic hair.
you can get some high quality third party hair for it.

It does take some trial and error, but poser characters with hair can be used in max with pretty good results, for example:

This is a pretty low quality render done in vray...just to show that it's possible

hi, I tested som opacity mapped planes and I think it worked very well.
Higlights are still missing, I have not been able to get any good results yet. I am using vray material btw.

Gastrok- what version of poser and max are you using? I've never been able to get those kind of results- my hair materials always end up importing with wrong UVs and the opacity is always messed up. Sometimes I get too many polygons with an export.

Your render may be low quality- but a really nice job on that one.

Owiik- vray material for the hair? I'm slightly confused by what you mean.

(vray material for the hair? I'm slightly confused by what you mean. )

well not much actually , just that I used vray material that comes with the advanced version of vray. Rendering opacity mapped "planes" with max standard material and Vray GI takes too long...but then again I am not sure how to achieve a good higlight effect with the vray material.
