  • UV position of a texture on an object

Is there a way to control the UV position of a texture on an object other than using the UVW modifier ? I was hoping I could place some kind of reference gizmo and the texture would be applied at that location. It would then be much easier to animate... Any ideas ?

Edit: Not sure if this makes complete sense. I'm creating a boat wake. I've rendered out a particle sequence and want to map this onto a large ocean area. I would therefore like the control over the placement of the boat wake using a method other than using the UVW map modifer. Maybe this is the only way in max...

http://scripts.breidt.net/ - grab the gizmocontrol script, it'll let you attach the gizmo of any modifier to another objects in the scene, so you could parent your mapping to a null and animate it, or parent it to your boat.

Thanks to martin! His collapse transform script has solved a lot of problems for me over the years too!
