For us, this is fantastic news. I no longer have to carry the investment of the perpetual licenses when needing to shuffle people around. Nothing worse than having to spend $7k for two licenses that will be mostly idle after the project is complete. I can now supplement my static licenses on a month by month basis instead of buying 2 licenses that I know I will only need for 2-3 months.

I just hope they don't get rid of the perpetual licenses, since we still have to use Max 2009 on a job that just never seems to go away.

This could be the happy medium between Adobe's "Rental Only System" and Autodesk's "Perpetual Only system". That way you can still have your core licenses with the much more affordable option to rent as needed.

Yes prices for us in Africa is usually aligned with EU also. Plus the local weak currency makes it even more expensive.

That being said, our weak currency works nicely in my favor for international work. My clients overseas get good quality at a cheap price for them, and after currency conversion I still get good money on my side. It's a win win.
So if anybody is looking to outsource work , send me a PM

Hmm this makes me think now, I wonder if local VRay suppliers will add their own markup for VRay 3.0, or if I'm going to have to get it from Torgeir Holm (maybe he will through in a RenderMonkey T-Shirt into the deal )
            Kind Regards,
