Peter Guthrie HDRI Backplate question

Hi all

We’ve just bought Peter's HDRI pack 3 from 3D Ocean and I just have a quick question regarding the “more images” from the site.
Lets for example take the more images from here:

Is that sky rendered straight from the HDRI or is it one of the backplates that was used? I’m not getting anything like those images on this side, neither with the HDRI render or the backplates.
Does anybody know the exposure settings as well as Cam Focal Length for this one in particular?

I think the background it's just the hdr map, not any of the backplates.

rendered straight from the HDRi.... let me open the file and find out what I did, but don't think theres anything special going on..

The skies were loaded using the vrayHDRi map, multiplier 1, Inverse gamma set at 0.8, vrayphysical camera was set at a very wide 14mm lens, f4, 1/200th, ISO 100, vignetting ON at 0.9.

Thats it pretty much. Not significantly different to my normal set-up apart from that I would normally add a slight s-curve in the vrayFB for a bit more contrast. It is possible i added a touch more contrast in pshop for those renders, but having just opened that test scene and hit render it looks very similar.

NOTE: I'm assuming here you have read this, which is linked to on the description of the skies http://www.peterguthrie.net/blog/201...ting-workflow/. If not, then I've found that using the 3dsmax bitmap loader and specifying a lower gamma, at least on my machine, doesn't work (!) (max 2013). Instead you can nest the bitmap inside a color correction map and change the gamma from there. I've been meaning to write a blog post about this but not sure if it is a big, or known issue, or just something weird with my machine.
