    -having looked at the scene summary, i now see its a damn sight more complex than i thought and isnt hand keyframed at all, and does indeed use the flex modifier. d'oh.

      Yeah, that cube has the Flex modifier on it, and the dummy is glued to one of its faces. Through scripting the relationship between the Dummy and the pivot point of the cube is fed into the Taper modifier on the "liquid" object.

      I was trying to duplicate it last night using an ExposeTM node and Wiring, but couldn't quite get it working that way.

        Many years ago, a TD friend of mine used that technique and improved it so the liquid could operate correctly even if the container was tilted and even upside down. I never really understood how this is done.
        This was for a commercial that never got completed.
