  • Shift+Drag clone problem in Max2014

Up until Max2014, we normally shift and drag an object in max if we want to clone it. Since installing Max2014 this rarely seems to work. It seems to 'go through the motions' but it appears to drag and copy a little gizmo-like square rather than the object itself.

Anyone have issues with this? What's the solution?
    Kind Regards,

    me too... it's very annoying...

but the strange is that sometimes it works...

very nice..I've found because sometimes it works.... you must have the pivot inside the object bounding box

otherwise it works like you described...
    it seems a bug...or a feature...it depends...

It does clone, it's just the viewport doesnt update. Render and you'll see. If you save the file and re-open max, it will also be there. The service pack seem to have made it a little better.
As a work around clone the object in place by using the menu, and then only move it, then it works fine.

Yes one of the most irritating bugs in 2014 but I'm not sure if it's still there in SP3 - we're on SP2 here until some large jobs are out the way.

          I'm with SP3 and it's still there...

We have to wait the SP25 to have solved it...

I just ran into this a week or to ago. I've been mostly animation, lighting and textures and haven't had to do to much modeling. It is definitely annoying. In our case, even when saved and re-opening the file, the cloned objects were still not visible in the viewports.

We are on SP3 and can confirm the problem still exists.

                You got us!

It definitely has it's quirks, but it's a lot better than previous versions.

if you simply clone the object first and then move it the object will display properly.
                  Very annoying bug

since it only happens intermittently i usually just ctrl-z and do it again.. usually works second time.
