Renderfarm Management

I wonder if anyone knows a good solution to manage a renderfarm on windows level. For example to start, restart
stop, kill process on more than one computer at once ?

I've been using this for a small farm. But I suppose it still requires you to go through each node to handle tasks...

Deadline's got a great remote command system where you can select any number of render nodes and start / stop / restart the nodes but also a remote command option where you can get all the nodes to run a command line - really handy for getting all machines to copy a plugin to a folder or run an installer.

Yeah but I don't think it manages DR. That would be great to have the ability to start stop DR. We do that through jobs though, where we just run a job on the farm and each machine runs the python script to start or kill hung up DR machines, which happens too often unfortunately.

We just have bat files with DOS commands to restart the entire farm, or a selected node

Deadline allows you to run a command on the server as so you can start or stop any process. Works for DR as well and easily switchable. Might be a bit overkill for a small farm though.

Deadline is a lot more expensive than ReFaMo for large systems...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I got the Refamo Demo yesterday and I´m really impressed so far. That´s exactly what we are looking for.
And we even got wake on LAN working with it. Also the price seems ok.
