For some of those asking for an easy way of updating max plugins, here is a python script i made (can run as a service on the workstations) for this effect. I use it here for sometime with success. There are lots of options, but the examples should be clear.
It allows ini updates, env vars setting and reading, registry reading, vrayspawner use detected and 3dsmax use detected, so it only updates if no session of 3dsmax is open. It stops and starts the vray spawner and other services. There is also a cmd line mode (used for making the backup).
I made it available in github for those who want to contribute to make it better.
