Stairs following curve

I'm using SpiralStairs to create some stairs but it looks like I cant have a custom curve that they would follow. Is there a way of doing it in max or I have to come up with my own approach?

There are a few plugins for stairs, railclone is one that should do stairs.

But I'll usually build them by hand, and then warp/deform - or use the 3dsmax stairs and heavily modify them to what I need. Depends on what you can get away with.
