its a stingray leather. i cant find a decent image to base a texture on. did find one that i hacked into something tiling (need to cover a big wall with it) but the spot sizes are not even throughout and lead to horrible visible tiling. i can either spend ages on fixing this.. or find a nice procedural method.

cellular map doesnt cut it. i was thinking something based on a voronoi mesh might be a good start, but i wont get those particular "big circles with little triangles inbetween" look.

as mentioned it needs to cover a large area without visible tiling.

suggestions most welcome, ive got 2 days left to nail this. and very little of that to spend on one texture.

edit: its actually a bronze with this pattern on it, not actual stingray i need. hence its possible to cover whole walls..

got a method...not perfect but should do it with a touch more work.

.. rectangle, garment maker, relax, edit poly chamfer all vertices, inset.

Either that or check out darktree or berconmaps in case they have a better noise? Pretty sure they've a voronoi pattern in there somewhere.

Possibly use the voronoi functionality in bercon?

that's got my vote....you could render a huge resolution bitmap from the geometry as well...great solution
