Wordpress - Yes/No for trackbacks and pingbacks?

So is trackbacks and pingbacks something I should enable or disable?
Whats the benefit of it on or off?

As far as I know and I don't know much about the web stuff. They are external links to your site and help increase the traffic to it. I have them on. Anyone with any actual knowledge will probably correct me shortly

From a couple of other sites they mention that 90% of the traffic from it, is spam. Although one group did mention they found out via this that their site was featured on another site.

But yes, thanks Steve I think I will switch mine on also and see how it goes when my new site is ready.

Make sure you have some kind of quiz for comments or something like that to reduce spam...also add it to your registration as well so only legit users register.

Well, I've had my site up and running for quite a while now but linking it to other sites and having a set of images that clients can look at has helped a lot with new work.

Thanks. I didn't model it, it was purchased from Turbosquid. I did the scene for a lenticular so the animation was only 7 frames long.

I say no simply because it leads to a lot of spam. If people like your site and know what they're doing, they'll link to you anyways.

Seems like it's better to not allow external links on your site in any case, whether in comments or pingbacks.
