    the blur and blur offset in 3dsmax maps is only useful for adjusting the filtering of maps a bit. not for actual proper blurring.

    does anyone know of a plugin map that will allow me to nicely blur (gaussian / box etc..) a procedural texture? seems a nice tool to have. be very helpful in my current job.

    Believe me Ive thought about coding it. Expensive as hell as its essentially spacial super sampling with a Gaussian kernel, so you have to sample the procedural at n# points at a given distance around the shading point and then average them. But yea, I agree it would be useful. neil Blevins has been after it for years...

      That and a really good, don't trash my data colour correction map would be priceless for all sorts of fx type applications.
