Okay, I was commissioned to do 5 NPR renders. The architect loves my photo-real, but found out that he can't afford it, so we went with the less complicated NPR feel. I emailed him the final NPR's, and his reply was: "Please, send the photo-real versions, too, since you already put the materials on everything". Really? Don't people have critical thinking skills, or am I just over sensitive?

Bobby - do you bid cost per project or per day?

From personal experience, these types of problems are quickly handled when you're bidding cost per day rate.
So when a client makes a ridiculous request like that at the last minute, you say: "Ok, great! That'll just take an extra X number of days at my normal rate".

When the meter is running, all of a sudden clients know EXACTLY what they want.

Yes. I charge $500 a day, take it or leave it, or it isn't worth my time. Also, I take somewhere between photorealistic and not photorealistic, work, because that's what Revit and ArchiCAD is for. I don't want people to see crap, find out it is me, and think that, that is what I do.

What he didn't ask for some free views since you already set the scene and you only have to press render before go to sleep, so you are not even working on them? And because you don't have to spend time using filter you should pay him back some money too.
I always respond " yes, it can be done but do you have a budget for that? Let me know.

it started off... "I need 5 photo realistic renderings in 5 days and I have a $500 budget, per rendering." I told him that I can't do it for time and money reasons, but I can get him some NPR ones, which he agreed too.
