I got an email from a person looking for a photo-real rendering and he attached an example of the quality. Now, to me, it is a photo with a filter. What do you think?

Here is his email. Also notice the, "first of many" manipulation statement . He seems legit, but I don't want to insult him, or waste my own time either.

We are spec home builders on Marco Island, Florida. Our summer home is in Barrington NH.

We are getting ready to market a Barn Roof Bungalow, (Dutch Colonial) in the Florida market, and we need a nice, crisp, realistic rendering of the front elevation.

You have done some beautiful work, as shown on your website, and you may be our potential source for the first of many different exterior elevation drawings.

The first attachment represents some of the PDF files we are sending you to get you to get a price quote.


The second attachment shows the kind of realistic rendering we are seeking.

From a view perspective, we would like it to be a 3/4 view, showing the little third car garage door.

Background would be wide water bay view.

Attached also are images of trees and bushes to be used.

he's not saying those are renderings, he's saying that's what he wants his renderings to look like. they have a very distinct style to them, they're very soft with no harsh shadows. fair bit of contrast & desaturation - you have images in your portfolio that don't fit this style, and some that do.

I guess his statement can be interpreted like that . I saw it more like, here are some photo-real rendering we like, and we would like your to be as real as these.

I would tend to agree with cubiclegangster, but it's probably worth pointing out to the client that these are indeed photos (or at least casually referring to them as 'photo reference') at an early stage so that they're not under any illusion as to what they'll be getting.

That was my interpretation as well. Someone who isn't involved in 3D may not really understand the art involved and more see it as mood and style when he wants to describe what he wants.
