            it's 2,400 psd files that happen to have layers, not a single psd with 2400 layers. one with 10 of this type of tree, one with this other tree etc.

                Yeah, you don't need to sift through 2400+ layers in a single Photoshop file. You just need to sift through 2400+ Photoshop files to find one that a) matches the perspective, b) matches the lighting, c) matches the site, d) matches the style of architecture, e) matches the type of use. Wouldn't take long at all, and I bet the end product will look brilliant.
