Skin alternatives

Besides BonesPro, does anyone know of any other alternatives to the Max Skin modifier? I remember a few years ago I saw a demo video of a plugin that added an extra roll-out to Max Skin giving it the ability to solve with a better, volume-keeping equation, but I seem to can't find that.

I've been using BonesPro for a few years and it's really, really wonderful. The copy I've been using was bought for me by a company that doesn't exist anymore though, so I can't upgrade to Max 2015 without shelling out $400.

there used to be a system that allowed you to add muscles and giggle but that company seems to have gone under.
