  • Max, Vray, Piranesi and Gamma Correction

    Hello,

I was not able to register in the Piranesi user forum so I thought I would post the question here. Any Piranesi users out there? I'm Modeling in Max, rendering in Vray with the system gamma set to 2.2. When I render out my image, it does not maintain the gamma information when opened up in Piranesi. Piranesi defaults the gamma to 1.0, making the image very dark. Is there a way to maintain the 2.2 gamma when opening up the image in Piranesi?

    Thank you,

    Scott

As a "wishlist item" I would hope the VRay would natively support the EPix file format from the frame buffer.

I wonder if this is similar to my issues with Render to Texture with Max 2012. I have to set the system gamma output to 2.2 AND set Vray to 2.2 gamma, with color mapping & gamma baked in. Sounds like double gamma, but it's the only way to get the baked textured to look correct.
