I remember being impressed by some of the samples using 3d PDFs: http://3dpdf.blogspot.co.uk example 1: http://www.directlight.de/media/tgv_lyon.pdf or example2: http://www.aecweb.de/news/pdf/0096-acrobat3db.pdf (on both save to desktop then open)

The other option might be Autodesk Design Review - though I'm unsure how it handles textures (if at all).

The 3d pdf looks quite interesting...first example seems dead, but second one was good. ADR looks worth checking, too, so thanks for the tips.

I've upped some of the pdf samples I DL'd from that site a few years back ( http://www.directlight.de/) Worth a look (37mb): http://we.tl/pm470MfOFP

[EDIT: all kudos goes to these guys, seems you can get the above and more of their PDf's here http://www.directlight.de/projects.html, I've fixed the previous link too]

Along the same lines of Lumion is Realis3d. They recently updated their free viewer to support the oculus rift. Considerably less expensive than Lumion...but Lumion has a huge library of diverse content. It is based on Unity, just makes the process a bit simpler. I believe it is still in beta, so there is that to consider also.

EDIT: Would probably be worth the time and effort if you have some to spare to learn the process for bringing content into Unreal Engine 4 since it is so affordable now, and Architectural Visualization is defined as exempt of their royalty charge in their terms of use...and the visuals are typically very impressive.

If I remember correctly, Lumion is based on Quest3D, not Unity.
