Moving People

An architect in our office emailed me a link to this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PU8EDAlfjNk#t=93 saying how cool it would be to add people like this to our animations. I am guessing they hired a firm to create custom green screen videos of the people moving. Can you buy moving green screen people "off the shelf" or would we have to hire a firm to do this custom? If so, do you think it would be prohibitively expense? We do not have very large budgets here.

Yes. The cars are RPC, too.

We own the RPC plugin and have the all access account and these look quite different than the RPCs we have used in the past. Especially the woman who walks off the train and hugs the guy. Maybe they have released newer content that I am not aware of. I will check out their web site again.

Theres a lot of stock green screen footage you can buy online.
Its also not that hard to do your own, you just need a camera, some green fabric and some willing volunteers.

Haha. I think I got drunk at Siggraph several years ago and told the MD of Archvision how rubbish I thought the RPC stuff was (I didn't know he was the MD of Archvision!). Apologies for that if you use this forum

Personally I find them incredibly distracting and generic. Your eye just goes right to them and I have a hard time looking past them to actually look at the building/space the video or image is supposed to highlight. Of course there are going to be people reuniting at a train station and people using the escalators and cars driving around and trains pulling into the station, etc, etc... I just don't want to see it. The firm that did it obviously spent a lot a lot of time and energy working on this, shooting and integrating all of those people, cars, and buses really must have taken a while and it looks pretty good. They probably spent more time getting all of the people in place than the actual architecture. Just really not my style - I'm sure some people eat it up though.

I'm liking the 360 scan stuff that's starting to pop up here and there from different vendors. Just need even higher quality stuff and MORE variety

I agree... I have 1/2 dozen good ones. Early on, I was paying $300 per, but now they are under $100.
