  • Populate People

    Hello,

Does anyone know how to explode populate people to a regular mesh?...There great for animations but I've also been using them for renderings, my problem is once I find I good pose and "convert them to edit poly" the controllers seem to be gone and they still have some animation movement...I cannot move or delete them.

    I would appreciate any advise.

    Thanks!

    Eric

Try exporting it and then reimport without animation
or try convert to proxy and do only 1 frame?

When you simulate them initially, you can also set the sim for only 1 frame. You'll have to increase the density because it will be more difficult with 1 frame sim to get them in a pose you want

You still cant move them...not even delete them, only the populate tool will delete them.

      Workaround...

Add populate people adjust posses and stuff.
      convert to editable poly.
make a box a convert to editable poly.
attached populate the people to box. (it attaches them but originals remain in the scene)
      delete box
      detach populate people if needed.
use populate tool to delete the originals.

There has to be an easier way!!!

Export as FBX and re-import is the quickest/easiest way I've found...

VrayProxy works just fine. Tested it and it works

Get the guy/girl in the pose you want. Pick thair material
Right click on him/her and convert to VRayMesh
          Delete the populate stuff
Insert proxy in scene. Add material to it that you picked previously
          done
          you can move them

I didn't test file export and import for something like 3ds or obj, but that should also work
(As James mentioned, apparently FBX works)
          Kind Regards,

That doesnt work on Populate stuff. You can 1st convert to mesh then to editpoly, but then the delete animation also trashes your pose you were trying to achive in the 1st place

Convert to mesh trashes the animation, but keeps your pose (but then the whole mesh still slides as if it is animation)
