Cannot edit imported DWG model

For some reason when I select the model there are no modifier parameters. I cannot convert to poly or mesh and so cannot edit any components of the model. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue ?

How did you import it?
Was it DWG, Legacy DWG or file link?

Can you add an edit mesh or edit poly modifier on top of it?

...or use the Snapshot tool on it?

I think I may have dragged it on the max window and it just came in as one object. I have no clue what type of DWG it was. When I actually imported it via the man menu I had the import options come up so all resolved now Thanks for the responses
