  • script for "editable poly modifier" for max 6 ?

    Hi

Does someone know if there does exist some script like for some sort of "editable Poly modyfier " i miss this very much for modelling.

Don´t understand why discreet doesnt build in this, when they build up the biggest part of their modelling technics based on polys

              Weeeeellll !

Of course i heared from a friend of a friend who´s brother knows someone at discreet !!!

that max six came our so fast only for the reason they didn´t want us to wait soooo long for for the great perfectly programmed rebuild of max with number seven !

a programm with so many nice features and only half works realy good. Too bad i don´t use maya already.

but for architecture and design visuals, max still is very good.

              Tom

but realy doen´t no one of you know a maxscript for an editable poly modifier ?

There is no edit poly modifier (That's what you mean, because editable Poly is already there), but there is a turn to poly modifier!
This sound not much, but it can be very usefull.

                For example:
You have some instanced objects (Mesh!) but want to have Poly-Objects, to do some changes. Well you don't want to collapse all, because they are instanced and you will keep so modifiers above. So, you simple add a 'turn to poly modifier" above the editable Mesh and make a 'collapse too' comand (popup menue). Now you have an editable poly, but still keep your stack and instances.

                About Max 7:
Let's wait! But to be honest, I don't think about great steps in our Market. Maya 6 update was lot weaker then everybody expected. Max is still a wonderfull application, it is much above Maya concerning modelling and everyday jobs. At the moment all companys having troubles to get money, so I guess the chance of seeing a next generation Max is: 0%

                regards,

                robert

Yes, max is really great app, easy and pleasantly to work in! Much much more user friendly then Maya, and simpler to use for short deadlines work.

Situation on the market now looks like there is no new fresh ideas that will implement in major 3d packages soon... the road is open for new revolutionary, fresh-ideas appz, like Zbrush for example. Will see what s happened soon...

                    Hi Robert

                    Thanks for your explanation.

But i think this modifier still doesn´t fit the same thing, the editable mesh modifier for long time does fit.

Usualy, you can use editable mesh modifier for example, to make construction steps in lowpoly modelling aproaches. for example you moddel the body of a charachter, and before you go on, you use anoter editable mesh modifier, that stores in one modifier now all new changes for example arms.

with such a modifier you could switch to all the cool modelling features polys alows, using all the nice features of of the modifier stack.

the turn to poly modifier just doesn´t give you the modelling features, you need, but destroys datahistory when you collapse the stack.

it´s not clear why discreet doesnt think their own thougts to an end a editable poly modifier just would be logical.

the things about max 7 are not ment serious.
and i think max realy is a good package. But !!! it still could be much better.

                    Greetings from Hamburg
