Honestly, we all work to cheaply. If we pay unemployment insurance, retirement, and everything else it takes, it wouldn't be difficult to ask for more.
The whole "$199" rendering has done some physiological damage to us. The hours I personally put in is obscene. If you feel you make enough, then stay there, but unless you are also planning for your family and future you are not making enough.
I looked at this motiv thing a month or so ago. Does anybody use this? I was looking for something similar to keep track of all projects. Preferably free of course (although nothing is these days)

I can testify for the 'hours put in' VS the 'actual paid hours' because I'm such a nitpicker. I should get a kick in the butt sometimes.

Also, the calculator doesn't take into account self employed vs. salaried employee. I based my fee on what the closest city would pay me per hours. I took that number and I doubled it. If someone were to pay me $30 per hour, including benefits, they are billing their client at least twice my hourly.
