  • New Nvidia Cards

    Hello,

In the process of building a new workstation and I was curious if anyone uses one of the following new Nvidia cards:

    GeForce GTX 970
    GeForce GTX 980
And this beast - GeForce TITAN Z

    Thanks

    Scott

I have the GeForce GTX 970. Viewport performance is great, but I have yet to get V-Ray RT to work without crashes.

Thanks Bobby for the feedback. As for the crashes, sounds like a driver issue.

Could be, but I have the nightly and latest driver. It works sometimes, but most times, not.

I have a GTX980 but I'm using max 2014 at the moment. Not sure about performance for max 2015 but I know games are good

I don't have any issues with vrayRT when using GPU apart from windows performance drops and it is tricky to navigate. I end up using CPU mode because of this.

With regards to the Titan. I think the price is way too much compared to what you get, hence the reason I got the 980GTX.

Plus: Did you try rolling back the driver to previous..that can sometimes help. I know there are issues with the latest driver when it comes to the Oculus Rift...but it may be worth a go anyway.

i don't want to hijack the post, but to me, it;s not worth playing with drivers. I got the card for viewport performance.

Lowering the values of ray per pixel and ray bundle size will solve the windows performance issue.

Thanks for the feedback. It looks like I'm going with the 980. I was considering the Titan Black but it's twice the cost and on paper, it's not nearly twice as fast. So the price to performance ratio doesn't pencil out.

                      Thanks

Exactly the reason I went with the 980. Hope you enjoy it

I'm surprised that they put 12 GB in it - I wonder how much it will cost.

                            Best regards,
