premiere 2014 issues

I updated to premiere 2014 the other day, opened an old file (which it had to convert to 2014 format), did a solid days editing - didnt add any clips, just changed subtitles and timing, and now when I try and export it says 'error compiling movie. unknown error'

which is amazing. anyone else seen this?
I even opened up another file which exports fine in the old version, saved as a 2014 version with no editing at all, tried to export and got the same error.

I'm just about to redo the work in the old version. so far i've experienced not one change in 2014, except for the fact that it straight up doesn't work. good update guys, nice work. pat yourselves on the back for that one.

e: loads of display issues too, the monitors lock on certain frames and when you shift the time it doesn't change the image. phenomenal update. and we thought max updates were bad.
every 30 minutes or so this happens and i have to close/reopen:



it's actually really funny. these are like the 2 single most important features of video editing software - being able to see what you're doing, and being able to export. both not working.

I got a reply asking about the type of footage being used - there's a mix of timelapse jpg sequences, .mov, .mp4 and .tga sequences. hundreds of clips.
they told me to convert them all to avi and try again. haha no thanks. 2014 just got uninstalled. [Solved]

Really? Instead of making their software work with all supported (by their software) file formats, they want you to convert all the footage? No thanks, why the fuck are we paying them to not do their job.

I had this error on a project recently, and I didn't have That much footage. There were 3-4 different formats though.

Here's the kicker, and what leads me to believe that their solution is bull. If it just errors on some footage, it shouldn't work until that footage changes/is removed, right?
My solution to get it to work. Close premiere, open premiere, render.
Seriously? I changed Nothing!
If I rendered twice in a row, "unknown error" and I have to repeat the same action.

So I feel like they are just making excuses...

Also, I've had the freezing problem before. They suggested I didn't have an approved video card (I do), and they told me to run on single monitor. HAHAHAHA, WHAT?! Who edits on one monitor? That makes me want to kill myself. So instead I just periodically restart Premiere.

Honestly, I never had a single issue with premiere cc. amazed me on a daily basis, but it worked great through some of the most complex edits i've ever done. I actually thought they'd nailed it.

I always hated rendering video in Premier. I'd make the edits and then copy and paste the project timeline into After Effects, where it comes in as layers with the clips sorted. Then tweak if needed, and render from AE.

Full disclosure: I haven't had but a couple small problems with CC 2014 either.

I use AE 99% of the time as well, rarely touch premiere.
