Pardon my ignorance, but when I see models that don't have a UVW map applied, but things are obviously mapped, I am assuming it was collapsed. Is there a way to find out what the mapping was? Or, if you are following Grant's architectural shaders, he isn't using any mapping. Is it MAX's real world, which is applied automatically.

If you throw a UVW unwrap on any object you can look at the UVs that it currently has. Grant uses procedural maps that don't use UVW coordinates but there are some things that are hard to create with that (well if you ask me if you give Grant enough time he will figure it out).

I had the same question in the beginning of Grant's course, that's why
