Weird AutoCAD linking on import

Yes, I have seen this. I think I imported the CAD, export it as an OBJ, and import it again... Something like that. It happens with Revit models, too.Bobby Parker

I had this issue just last week. http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=1230561
It's due to instanced transform controllers on imported objects that are blocks within AutoCAD; to fix it (thanks to SnipeyX for the script and PixelMonkey for telling me to use the full maxscript Editor)
1. select the offending objects
2. open the MaxScript editor and copy-paste and run the following:

for o in selection do o.transform.controller = PRS()
for o in selection do o.parent = undefined
