  • Sketch UP

    hello,

Does anyone know of a good tutorial for someone coming from Max / Vray to Sketch UP up? I got an odd request for a set of renderings in Sketch UP, customer wants to match some existing renderings previously done.

I never used Sketch up for rendering so this will be interesting.

You don't render in SketchUP; you use a plugin inside SketchUp to render, I think.

      Hi Bobby,

I seen you post some NPR renderings before, what workflow do you use? I'm thinking about just doing the renders in Max and using something like the toon shader to get the sketch-up look.

It's been awhile... I rendered in MAX/VRAY, with toon pass. I brought the render into FotoSketcher and used the FotoSketcher image and the toon pass in Photoshop. Sometimes I used Paranisi to squiggle the toon pass lines. I manually extended some of the toon lines to give it a hand drawn feel.

Thanks Bobby! I think the Vray toon effect might actually do it for my renders...I think the customer thinks because if Sketch-Up the rendering are easier to produce and cost less.

Anyone have experience working with both? Is it faster to work in sketch-Up than Max?

I don't see how it could be faster for you to learn a whole new software and do the render. I would stick to what you know and just make it look like what they want it to look like.
