  • Viewport Ghosting

All of a sudden, and out of the blue, my viewport is ghosting. I have layers turned off, but in shaded view I still see them. i can change materials on an element, but it doesn't update with the new material. I have 3ds max 2015 and VRay 2.4. I have a GTX 970 card with the latest drivers. Any clues? Very frustrating!

Yeah I was getting this last week. I think just restarting max fixed it for me.

I assume you don't mean ghosting as in Max's animation ghosting which you can turn off under Views->Show Ghosting.

        What does this look like?

I have had bad luck with recent drivers for the 980s; maybe issue with the 970 as well? 344.75 works well. Newer ones were basically crashing the whole machine. I have not tried the very latest ones, though. This was multiple 980s on multiple machines (all x99 on Win 8.1).

I removed everything related to nvidia, rebooted, and let Windows install the driver. Now, it's working.

I wonder how much Autodesk does to your machine without your permission and in the background. Nothing changed on my PC, but now MAX is literally unusable. The viewpoint does not update!

This is driving me absolutely crazy! I tried everything, but the only thing that works is rebooting MAX, but it starts right back within minutes.

that is seriously strange, wish I could help you on this one but havent seen anything like that here. Then again Im on 2014 but not sure if that would make a difference.
                      Cheers,

I tried everything. I forced through the project, completed it, and it's not happening on my new project. So, it seems to be specific to that project, thank God.
