    How do I fix this? I get it everytime I open a scene. I think it is coming from my default MAX scene, but how do I change it.

    Are you using a maxstart.max file?

    The gamma is set in the file, so if you open a file with a different gamma setup, you will get that dialogue box. I setup and generic maxstart.max file for all users so that we don't run into this problem anymore, unless we open a really old project.

    Anyways, I just use a simple script to change the output gamma back to 2.2 if it get changed to 1.0

    Type this in the maxscript window and hit enter.
    fileOutGamma=2.2

    To change it back just switch the 2.2 value for 1.0. Easy peasy.

      Does that change it in the max start file?

        If you open the maxstart.max file and make that setting adjustment, you have to save the file and then you will be good to go.

              I am having the same problem with that message showing up every time I open a file. My gamma preferences are the same as Troy's. And files I created with those preferences still bring that dialogue box when they are re-opened.

                Do you guys have the Rebus Farminizer plug-in installed? I have found that since installing it, max always starts with gamma disabled. Very frustrating, so I tend to uninstall Farminizer until I need to use Rebus, which is not very often. Could be coincidence, but it seems to sort the problem here. Hope it helps.

                  Interesting. I'll check. I haven't been able to use Rebus since they upgraded it. It fails on every scene. So, I'll remove it and see if that helps with the gamam thing.

                    same thing here, gamma disabled and default values. couldn't find what was causing it, as all default files were edited correctly, until I had to reinstall max. after a fresh install everything worked as expected, then I reinstalled farminizer and the problem was back again. not a big deal, but a bit annoying, I agree. still haven't reported it to rebus though.
