  • Window 7 Question - Thumbnail images

    Hello,
I upgraded my OS from XP to Win 7 and I have a question. I noticed I cannot see the thumbnail images in the explorer window (please see attached). I get a generic image. This happens in all my apps. Does anyone know why?

    Thanks....Scott.

In Explorer under folder options, there's a thing at the top that says "always show icons, never thumbnails".
    Untick that

In that same list I always also enable "Show hidden files and folder". Most people don't need this one however

I also disable "Hide extensions for known file types" This is actually a security issue as someone could send you a file called "Proposal.pdf.exe" that would then show up in the window as "Proposal.pdf" but would actually run an an exe... M$ stupidity at work.

Ha! No sooner do I say this then I see an article to this effect on Slashdot! Like this is somehow new news... This has been an issue for ages. Hiding extensions is just plain stupid.
