  • Walls & Tiles

I have to do a large brick building, so I thought I would try Walls & Tiles. I own a copy and actually, I just updated it. When I apply the Walls & Tiles my scene gets very unstable. Is anybody else using it, in production, successfully?

I use it every time for bricks, floors,... My scenes are always stable (more or less, but it hasn't got anything to do with walls & tiles I'm sure). What seems to be the problem? Your material editor could be slow if the walls & tiles material is in your material editor and you specified a high number of rows.

Once I started using it, every move I made I got the "not responding" title bar. If I waited minutes, it would revive, but go right back into the loop. Maybe, I'll try it again.

Maybe it's because your viewport textures resolution is set too high, like 4096. I found that Walls & Tiles becomes extremely laggy with higher resolutions. But it's usually a wait of seconds, not minutes as in your case.

          I'll check that, thanks.

Any good resources for those single bricks that it requires. i remember seeing a site awhile back, but I wasn't interested at the time. Preferable free ones

I always start with the textures from Vizpark itself, if those don't cut it I cut them out myself from various textures (depends on how close I need to render). Or take photos myself.

it seems that once I have the bricks built, applied and set to show in view port, it speeds up. It just takes awhile to do each of those steps, especially the show in view port. Also, I have to delete the texture from the material editor, otherwise each time I open the editor it takes several minutes for the editor to finishing refreshing.

I just purchased their standard brick library.

I did post my issue to their forum, 3 days ago, but it hasn't been answered.

What I do to avoid these extreme slowdowns is once I'm done and satisfied with my Wall & Tiles setup, I render the various maps to bitmaps and use these (Material Editor>Utilities>Render Map)

Seems like a workaround that shouldn't have to happen. I'm building the texture again and once I add the brick "select folder", that is when it slows to a crawl; I am talking about 3 minutes whenever I do anything in the material editor.

I got a reply, to my support ticket, in a few minutes. Awesome!

'Yes, sorry for this, it´s related to Autodesk changes in the viewport performance. Please follow theseinstructions in the attached screenshot to fix the performance"

using the plugin has made bricks and tiles a breeze. It is a plugin that I couldn't live without.
