Bad Geometry

I had a friend build this site for me and it's god awful. If someone has a minute, can you look at it? I am trying to use populate-terrain, but I am getting nothing. I tried exporting it as a dwg, which sometimes works. i tried cleaning it up, but nothing!

Eeew, polyface mesh geometry.
Have him send you the 2d CAD files and make it with Splineland...
I usually have best luck with CAD files if they contain only 2D splines...
If you have AutoCAD, you could just do it yourself and export as dxf and it might help.
Sorry, that's all I have at the moment.

I got it to open in inventor and max2014, tried to convert it to dxf but cant get the dxf back into max

I ended up hacking it to work; what a nightmare.
