What is the best way to apply DOF in PS? It is taking way too long, for me, in V-Ray. I have tried PS's lens blur; is there a better way? DOF Pro, which I used to own, doesn't work in PS 64 and I am not sure it was better than PS's lens blur, which is just okay.

In VRay, if you use the shademap, you can apply the DOF in a few seconds. Same goes for Moblur. Last time I checked, the shademap only worked if you render on 1 pc and not on DR. But that was with VRay 2.4. They may have fixed it since then for DR. Can anybody confirm?Kind Regards,
Morne

also I havent had to do any DOF inside PS in a long time but will lens effects filter use the zdepth pass to create the DOF effect? Im thinking like AE does...Cheers,

You could download AutoDesk Composite 2014 (it's free) and use the zdepth pass. Composite is easy to use.val valgardson

The native PS lens blur is horrid. Frischluft is awesome.

I was able to use V-Ray lens blur without a huge hit in render times, so maybe I don't have to do it in post. I did download the Frischluft trial, however the button to use an image was grayed; I'll have to look into that.Originally posted by Pixelcon View PostThe native PS lens blur is horrid.
