  • If you use Multiple Monitors - this is a must have piece of software.......

I was recently looking to do something real simple in Windows (7) and discovered I needed some software to achieve it - all I wanted to do was have different desktop background images on each of my monitors......

    That software is called DisplayFusion

    http://www.displayfusion.com

But boy, what this software does is sooooooooooo amazing for anyone that uses multiple monitors and is constantly manually re-sizing and moving their windows (software, Explorer etc).

Basically you set up totally customisable buttons (which will reside on your software/windows titlebar) and by simply clicking on those, your window resizes and jumps to wherever you wish to be on your desktop.

It works especially well with Windows Explorer (particularly for when, say, you want to split your screen into two explorer windows 50/50).

As I say, completely customisable and ONLY $18 ! It's already paid for itself as far as I'm concerned, and I've never bought a piece of software at this silly price before that has removed soooooo much hassle and stress when working in Windows (if you're anal like me about your windows being exactly where and how you like them, you'll see too).

The authors have thought of everything (I've asked several questions re customisation and each time they've got the feature I've wanted already in there). And their online support truly is the very best I've seen.

Just thought I'd share this - and bang the drum for them - it has literally changed my whole PC use and experience.

    DisplayFusion.

I've never referred a piece of software ever before, but it has really helped me a TON and for those of us using multiple monitors, it's a no-brainer !

I paid $25 for it last week but they've got a sale on at $18 - silly money for something that is so damn useful (and extremely well thought out).

It does sooooooo much, and is sooooo customisable - let me know how you get on

I second UltraMon...used it forever now.

I'll check out display fusion and see how it differs.

Ultramon looks good too, but I don't believe it is as feature rich yet is twice the price of DisplayFusion at $35 !

I used to use ultramon so I could have multiple wallpapers across screens. But as I like to have not much software booted up, I don't use it anymore. And I use the windows + arrowkeys now, which is all I need.

don't forget about Windows + Shift + arrow, which is often not listed as a hotkey for some reason. But that one is even better if you just want to switch.
And you can easily have multiple images on both monitors by just adding them together in photoshop, then choosing to tile your image on the desktop.

Some of the features of display fusion might be a little handy, but I also don't like running software that doesn't Actually increase my productivity. Those features are all kind of handy. They won't make me faster at all.
