Sometimes I just don't get people. I have been corresponding with a company about 4 rooms they want me to illustrate. Each room was about as complex as the others, so I gave them a rough number for each room, all being about the same cost; telling them that I'll send a formal quote if they are interested. Well, they come back to wanting one view, but standing in a hall with a super wide 180 degree lens, which picks up each of the four rooms. However, they want it for the one room price. Really! From my experience, the people who complain about money are the most difficult to please, so I think I'll put on my running shoe.

Yup I'd do the same. Their request sounds quite shady as it looks like they are trying to pull a fast one and get all 4 rooms rendered for the price of one, only they would most likely play dumb and act offended if confronted.

you could kindly point out that that one image would be exactly the same amount of work as the original 4 since it contains all the elements of the four (as if they didnt know!) .. just to hear their response. i know id want to hear the justifications / excuses, even just for entertainment, then when they insist its less work, you can politely decline.

you could even offer the 180 degree as a freebie with the originally suggested 4 images.

I sent them the quote, which was basically all rooms, each for the same price (4X), with a discount for only working with one view. She responded that they already told their client it would be the price of one room, since they just want one camera view. She lobbed the ball in my court as if she caught me on some technicality. Oh well, you find all kinds.

I would like to think it was ignorance on their part, but they did start off by asking for a quote per room and they listed the four rooms.

We worked though it and all is good Basically, I didn't budge and we agreed to two views; one for each space.

Im jaded with clients like that with past experiences, Id make sure they give a deposit that will cover the labor at least

I don't start a project without 50%. It's clear on my quote and invoice and it's in my contract.
