  • Old 3D Studio DOS maps

I've been asked to resurrect an old 3D Studio DOS project and modernize it. This isn't a huge deal, but I'm wondering if anyone still has some of the texture maps that 3DS shipped with back then. I just want to get the project started as the original artist intended.

    The files I'm missing are:
    BENEDITI.GIF
    BIGSKY.TGA
    BRNBRICB.CEL
    BRNBRICK.CEL

I don't think I have the ability to open .CEL files anymore, so maybe those could be converted to something else?

    Thanks much!

BIGSKY.TGA now that brings back memories!

One or two of those pop up when you google for them by the way.

It seems I was storing a copy of 3DS DOS in a dark recess of my old computer even though I couldn't open it. So I found everything.

No, it's a 5 year old computer. It won't run on it, but I guess I gave it try some time ago to see if it would and never deleted it.

I just found my floppy disks! Glad you got it sorted!

Are you allowed to post up the before / after of this particular project?

I don't know if I have anything left from back that far.

Yes, I'll make a point of doing that. This project isn't my priority right now though so it could take a while.

Actually, there's one more legacy thing I'm having trouble with. The master files for a lot of the bitmaps are vector files made with a version of CorelDRAW so old that nothing seems to open them. There are LOTS of complicated hieroglyphics (it's an archaeology project, in more ways than one), so it would save me gobs of time if I were able to find a way to open them. Apparently this project was originally done 22 years ago! That's insane. I guess that would mean CorelDRAW ver 3 was probably used.

We have some pretty old versions of CorelDraw here...If you could send me a sample file, I'll see what I can do for you.
