3ds max layers and groups

I feel like I am going crazy here but I am currently trying inside max 2016 (2015 should be the same) to hide group content inside my scene/layer explorer.
Meaning that I still want to see my groups displayed but not the items inside groups, by default it displays everything. I am pretty sure I saw the option at one point to change this but I have been looking for a while now and can't seem to find it again.
Hopefully someone can help me.

its not there anymore sadly :-/
this used to be in outline script

because of this i started using layers to nest the groups and kid of got used to it.
Its a PITA from the start but now i kind of find it usefull and quicker to work with

and whats more...i stopped using groups completely

my scnee is quick and its quicker to render too

Guess I have to change my workflow then for heavy scenes. Such a pity. :/ Thanks for the information though
