  • Kernal Error

Just had a computer freeze. It recovered, after trying 4-5 times to reboot, but it's a little unsettling. Anybody experience this? The error in the Event Viewer mentioned a Kernal Error. Any clues? Worst things to come, or just a fluke?

    Frezze and two causes.
One its for Video card (electric problems) or HDD (sdd) problems.

Can you check that type error whit other video card and other cpu.
As well on windows you can check the hardware problems.

    cheers

It is a 6 month old card, so probably not that. I do run an SSD monitor and it reads 100% good. Hopefully, it's just a fluke. I found out that the error was just saying that Windows rebooted unexpectedly.

if it happens again, stress test it, video card too. 6 month old doesn't mean faulty. If everything checks out but it still happens then my bet would be on the powersupply. Mine just failed after 2 month of use.

I have worked the machine day and night for a year, so it served me well. I bought it off of EBay for $1,200 and put a GTX 960.

bsod with kernell power can mean many different things.

What you can do is download this little tool called blue screen view, it will show you the dump files that were created with the last bsod and it can point to a dll which has caused the problem. But again, it can be any number of things, for example my old workstation though rock solid, would bsod every now and then, not often to make it a real problem but it did happen.

I have another dell workstation can bsods on idle all the time, but during full load it actually runs fine for as long as its under load (go figure) could be hdd related..or video.

                      Morbid

Sometimes the BSOD appear without explanation. But whatever the start of the error is that the ram was not capable of managing information why the BSOD appears.
Why is there a dump for IMMINENT error. This instability is due to the volatility of the ram.
What would be good, discard parts.
Try a bench of stress and then test memory by memory. Then the following parts.

                      causes a BSOD.

                      RAM
                      HDD
MOTHERBOARD (strange but could be a misreading of the ram)

I ran an SSD and a CPU check and both came out excellent. Also, I did some web search, and people are reporting Windows 10 Freezes while under heavy loads, with the latest updates.

makes me feel a little better. However, mines is DVI, so it might not be the same thing.
