Since Xfrog is out of the picture for us, I downloaded Laubwerks Demo with its free trees and shrub. Very impressive.
And, I have created something with it I have needed for a long time. Baccharus is a plant species that is called for on almost every project I work on. (I do only exteriors and only AEC stuff of large housing developments) I was able to convert the shrub that ships with the demo into an editable mesh and then modify it into 3 different types of Baccharus. From what I see, the rest of their plants are equally as editable. And the variations achievable without converting them to editable mesh are great. We are checking to see which of their plant packages will best suit us.
I already have the Onyx suite of plants. This is a much easier software to use though different in what you get.
