  • A bunch of old blades

We have a bunch of old render blades that haven't been used for a good 2 or 3 years now. Quite ageing technology wise, but always performed very solidly. Any ideas what to do with them? They are too good to throw away but too awkward to keep any longer.

They are dual Xeon machines with either 4 or 8GB memory and a 7200 barracuda hard disk on an intel server board. There are slots free for upgrading the ram and I think the clock speeds are 2.5GHz and 3GHz. We have wiped and installed W7 on each of them.

I suppose the default is fleabay. What do you guys do with old equipment like this?
    Kind Regards,

Its difficult because value on ebay for most old rendering nodes is pathetic.
I rather keep the old stuff in case we need it one day...... unlikely as that may be!

Silly isn't it. We've kept them for 3 years 'just in case'

If they aren't worth much and you want to get rid of them - I'd either put them up for free somewhere or donate them.
