  • Houdini Sim Alembic Export to 3ds max Vray

I have some free time and wanted to give houdini a spin to see if its viable for future projects so I am completely new to the program.
My current goal is to get a granular sim I did out of houdini and into 3ds max to render with vray, but it seems I have some basic understanding problems on how to get a valid alembic file exported.
Anybody in here might be able to give me a quick rundown on what I have to do?

This I'll do after I figure this one out

      *edit*
Well now I feel stupid. Figured it out.
So if anybody else is interested

If you are using the shelf tools for the grain simulation it'll create a "grain_particles" object inside is the import_grain node there you can connect a "rop_alembic" note and save the sim to disk. My mistake was that I always pressed pause instead of stop during the writing process in order to check the alembic file in max, which wasn't obviously fully written yet.
