  • unrolling spiral spline

    any suggestions? i need to take a helix, and unroll it with the first vertex staying pinned and the length staying constant.

    I'm not sure if this is really any help, but you could draw a line and use PathDeform to wrap it around a helix? There's probably a really clever way to do it properly but this is all I can think of.

      gah i hate pathdeform.. not only does it move everything around, but nothing stays a constant length. on a related note, does that work with splines? i thought you could only use it on geometry.

      anyway i may have found a way to do what i want -without- an unrolling spline.
